Well, this is perhaps the best point of comparison between the two volumes.
So in a nutshell. . . if you have the budget for one, get Volume 2.
Vol 2 is about three times stronger, and Scott Kelby repeats most of the recommendations referred to vol. 1 anyway.
In Volume 2 reflectors, diffusers, discusses the boxes of light. In Volume 1, pages are a little 'wasted on superficial things in common sense, to umbrellas.
The image quality is also better in Volume 2.
Solid few that I started in Vol 1 are the parameters of Photoshop (input values for the sake of clarity) and connections, especially created to complement the expertise of the page, in Volume 2, the tips on creating a studio from scratch the great use of flash, and "recipes photos' are truly magnificent.
But if you're really a beginner, budding photographer, perhaps completely new DSLR, then the two combined in a set is perfect. The format of the point of lessons is a noble idea and should really help!
There are still many issues for Volume 3, such as how to manage styles, embedded images (color saturation), and an explanation of the differences between the white balance, more technical studies, the panning, the travel photography more urban, more work in Flash,. . . So Im hoping that too (Scott says it will be next year).
I read Scott's other books so when I saw this series knew it would be a smart purchase. He "talks" with you in your writing style. He is a bit 'ham at times, but it becomes really the point through the injection, while the mood from time to time. Many books on how to sleep, but this series shows how to easily produce the shots to create a professional photographer. I also like the last chapter in which Scott gives you the "recipe" for a lot of shots and can go out and prove itself with great success.
I've been a Photoshop user for several years and have read other books by Scott. I have never been disappointed by his books. This set is a great source of quick reference when I have ideas that want to take a shot. I'm sure you have and will continue to accelerate the process of moving from a beginner to intermediate and higher levels of photography.
Ok I have been complaints about these books here is the weakness of my sight. . . . .
If you're an incredible photographer with years of experiance, these books are not for you!
Now, if you are learning and starting with this issue both are a must read! Do not bombard you with terms that do not understand. It's like what it says it is. Only one partner telling the simple way to take pictures you want. Explains the tools that you might want to invest, and how to get the kind of shots you want. And 'fun. I laughed a lot reading these books are full of humor.
I'm starting in digital photography. These books, in which a great help to me! I have some great shots, and learned about the clever things I can do complicated camera. I got elbowed and encouragement to learn more immense without me. I can not wait for the next!
